THE PROBLEM

The Access Gap in Mental Health Care

Too often, when someone  reaches out for help, they’re met with a reality they didn’t expect, costs they can’t afford and waitlists that stretch for months.

At the very moment someone is ready for support, access and affordability become the barriers that stand in the way.

35th | 46th

Florida ranks 35th out of all US states & D.C. in incidence of mental illness versus access to care, and ranks 46th in overall access to care (5th from the worst).1

6 Weeks

The average wait time for a counseling appointment —
even for someone in crisis —
is six weeks or longer.2

23% of American adults sought care for mental health in 2022. That’s 75 million of our family members, neighbors, and friends.3 — is six weeks or longer.2

$178

The average cost of counseling is $178/hr, well beyond the average person’s reach.3

Nearly 40% of the clients who obtained appointments reported needing financial help from someone to afford treatment.3

4.8% of adults in the U.S. reported having serious thoughts of suicide.1

1 in 3 adults  will experience an anxiety disorder at some point in their  life, and 1 in 4 adolescents are experiencing anxiety.5

OUR SOLUTION

What Central Florida needs is not more of the same—it needs something different.

Grace Counseling was built on that conviction: that a better model is possible. One that ties the cost of care to what a family can afford, frees clinicians to focus fully on their clients, and treats mental health not as a luxury—but as essential element of life.

We’re not just filling gaps in the system. We’ve built something better, and Central Florida needs this.

Most people don’t realize this:

With the average counseling session costing $178, weekly therapy can cost more than $9,000 per year.

At Grace Counseling, we’re working to remove that financial barrier so more people can access the care they deserve.

At Grace Counseling, clients pay $25–$90 per session and sometimes as low as $15 with financial-need based scholarships.

So how is that possible?

The truth is simple:

It costs us about $120 to provide each session.
Clients pay $60 on average.

The difference is covered by generosity.

In 2026, we are projecting to provide over 17,000 appointments.

That’s where you come in.

When you give, you’re not just funding a session, you’re helping someone heal, grow, and find hope again.

More than numbers, these are lives transformed.

Every session represents a story: a moment of courage, a step toward healing, a life moving forward.

Behind every number is someone who reached out for help and found it at Grace Counseling. Your generosity makes this possible.

In 2025, over

1,400 clients

were served ages 3 and older.

10%

of Grace Counseling clients received financial assistance for scholarships through our scholarship program.
